Great Family Read

It is the day for which book-lovers of the North East have been waiting - the Chronicle's Great Family Read book is now available.

Priced at £3.95, it contains hundreds of short stories from our readers, from the under-sevens to the over-70s.

The glossy paperback is the result of a campaign which began almost 18 months ago with the opening of Seven Stories, the centre for children's books, in Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley.

The aim of the project, backed by Barclays, was to encourage more people in our region, young and old, to discover a love of reading and writing.
